It’s that an ostrich egg?
Putting the temp sensor by the heater will not give you an accurate reading of what your tank’s temperature is. It will give you a warmer reading, and decrease the accuracy of the sensor over time.
Keep the sensor as far away from your heater as possible. This will give you a good idea of what the actual tank temp is, and how to adjust your heater.
But, keeping the heater by the intake of your filter, IS a good idea. This will make sure warm water is spread throughout your tank. This will keep your tank temperatures more stable. Just make sure the heater is no less than 1 inch away from the intake tube. This will make it so you don’t risk melting the plastic.
